The Cowans at Log Boom Park

I met the Cowans at Log Boom Park in Kenmore, where there is a trail, a playground, picnic tables, and a hidden pier. We spent most of our time on the pier. They'd never known about it, though they'd been to the park many times. It's down a bit from the main park area and it's covered up by trees. I've photographed this family a few times before. Each time I see little Maggie, she looks more and more like her big sister Ainsley. If she was a little bit bigger and had curly hair, they could be twins.

I played around this time with a new creative option on the photo program I use. It's a sepia type option that gives the photos a timeless feel. I think I'll keep it.

Ainsely changed into her fairy dress and showed me some of her latest ballet moves.

Here are a few more from our time together, including some pictures of Maggie practicing her newly learned skill of walking. This family is fun!

Paul and Kimberly- Engagement

Paul and Kimberly are getting married in just 3 short weeks! I met them at the Arboretum earlier this week for some last pictures before they become Mister and Misses. They seemed very calm and relaxed for having their big day just around the corner. Apparently all the plans are coming along smoothly.

The two of them were pretty adventurous and climbed up in a tree for me. Well worth it, I think, for these beautiful pictures... even if it meant Kimberly had to climb up in heels!

(In all honesty, Kimberly climbed up in bare feet and Paul handed her shoes to her once she'd made it up.) Thanks for introducing me to a new spot, Paul and Kimberly. I'm looking forward to shooting your wedding! Here are a few more of my favorites for you to enjoy.

Joseph & Jarica's Wedding

If I had to choose one word to describe Joseph and Jarica's wedding, it would probably be 'family'. Everyone from Jarica's family (and two other families that are very close to them) was in the wedding in some way. Those who weren't actually in the wedding party were in the background getting the ceremony and reception site ready (including using flowers pulled from their collective gardens and dishes from their kitchens). The three families gathered around the bride and groom during the ceremony to pray for them in their new journey. Jarica told me before the wedding that she loves her family, and if I got more pictures of them than her, she probably wouldn't care. I didn't take her up on that, however, as the camera LOVED this bride. She was up for any ideas, and I had a lot of fun with Joseph and Jarica down at Matthew's Beach before the ceremony.

There was a cute spontaneous moment, when Bekah, the elder of the two flower girls, stretched across for a hug during the formal pictures.

Here's the face Jarica made when Pastor Steve commented on how beautiful she looked. She had the whole place laughing.

I was so impressed by the decorations at the reception, especially considering most of the items were pulled from home and put together by one of Jarica's closest family friends to help out on cost.

Joseph & Jarica's Wedding: First Look

Joseph and Jarica were just recently married on Thursday evening. I will be going out of town for a week, so I wanted to get up just a couple pictures from the wedding before I left. It was a beautiful wedding. Lots of fun and lots of tears. I thought this first picture would give you a sense of just the kind of whimsical bride Jarica was!

And one more teaser to leave you with.

Okay, just ONE more. There are many, many more pictures to come!

Attention Families

My time in Seattle is coming to a close. For those of you who have kept up with my blog, you've probably read that my family is planning a move to Chicago at the end of the summer. Our house went on the market last week and we've even got a potential buyer already. What this means for all you families is that my time is limited for taking your pictures. I will be doing several weddings starting in the last week of July and into August, so I will not be scheduling any more family/child shoots after July 19th. If you'd like to get something scheduled before then, please get in touch with me soon to get something on the calendar.

Every post needs a pictures. Here's a photo I snapped of my girls playing in the Costco box outside yesterday.
